It can be so traumatising to realise that your pet is missing. You are not supposed to relax hoping that it will come back. You should start looking for it immediately by letting your neighbours know about it and searching for it around your neighbourhood area. Ask the neighbours if they have seen your cat or dog. Call out the pet’s name while checking around. You can do this at night when it’s quiet. It could be trapped somewhere in the compound. Use a flashlight to search small places where pets hide. Check under parked vehicles, inside drains or sheds. Make visits to animal shelters around where animal control officers take the stray pets. Not just for one day, make several visits after two or three days, and file a lost report with every shelter around your home. Ask to see shelters lost and found records.
