WHAT TO DO WITH YOUR PET'S FAVOURITE ITEMS AFTER THEY'VE PASSED

The lifetime of a pet can be enough to accumulate vast belongings for the pet which includes food, pet toys, bedding, and other items.

The question of what to do with the pet belongings squarely lies in the decision of a pet owner. There is not a better or worse way of handling the pet's belongings after the pet dies. This is a personal decision that is always best for the owner.

Nonetheless, the following could be the options available for handling belongings left after a pet loss.

(a) Creating a tribute to some of the pet belongings.

Preserving some of the belongings of your pet is a better way to always carry the sweet memories of your pet in your lifetime. Tributes remind you that you once had a wonderful companion.

(b) Donate to a pet shelter.

Shelters are basically run through a constrained budget and a donation of the pet’s belongings is always appreciated. You can, therefore, choose to donate some, if not all, of your pet’s belongings, left behind by your lost pet. However, it is good to first seek consent for a donation from the shelter as some shelters prohibit some donations like food.

(c) Repurpose for the next pet.

Some pet loss can deter owning any other pet because of the fear of the chances of experiencing loss again. This mainly happens to those people who hold their pets very dear to them and have a very deep bond with the pets.

However, sometimes you can keep and repurpose these toys for another pet later on. When such a decision is made, make sure to clean the toys thoroughly and keep them packed away. This is a great way to save money with your future pet.
